Since last year we started a family children's book publishing effort to bring positive messaging to children and their parents who read the books to them.  The Skel Club was founded by Matthew and me to publish books on Amazon and to spread positive messaging   we have published 5 books so far under this effort

Father's Day has an interesting history! The modern celebration of Father's Day began in the early 20th century in the United States. Here are some key points:

• Origins: The idea of Father's Day was first proposed by Sonora Smart Dodd in 1909. She wanted to honor her father, William Jackson Smart, a Civil War veteran who raised six children as a single parent.

• First Celebration: The first Father's Day was celebrated on June 19, 1910, in Spokane, Washington. The date was chosen because it was the month of Dodd's father's birthday.

• National Recognition: The movement to establish Father's Day as a national holiday gained momentum over the years. In 1966, President Lyndon B. Johnson issued the first presidential proclamation honoring fathers, designating the third Sunday in June as Father's Day. Finally, in 1972, President Richard Nixon signed it into law, making it a permanent national holiday in the United States.

• Global Celebrations: While the date and traditions vary, many countries around the world now celebrate Father's Day. For example, in the United Kingdom, Canada, and India, it is also celebrated on the third Sunday in June, while in Australia and New Zealand, it is observed on the first Sunday in September.                       

Father's Day is a wonderful opportunity to show appreciation for fathers and father figures.

​Italians celebrate Father’s Day on March 19th; the same day as St. Joseph’s Day.
Father’s Day, perhaps appropriately, coincides with the Festa di San Guiseppe or “The Feast of St. Joseph”. This feast is in honor of Joseph, husband of the Virgin Mary and the “earthly father figure” of Jesus.

Major League Baseball and New Era introduced the very first official, league-wide Father's Day hats and uniforms in 2016

Prior to 2016, the Yankees and other clubs honored the holiday by wearing temporary light blue wristbands, armbands, or ribbon decals on their standard home or away jerseys. The 2016 rollout marked the first time that New Era manufactured a fully dedicated holiday cap for the event, featuring a graphite grey crown and brim accented by a light blue team logo.

Subsequent years shifted the design to incorporate the signature blue holiday colors into the crowns, brims, or undervisors (like the recent navy and turquoise styles). As with all MLB Father's Day apparel, a portion of the proceeds from these hats goes to support the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
