Going 2 Bat 4

Going 2 Bat 4 Job Seekers: A National Movement Rooted in Baseball and Community

We Go 2 Bat...
  • 4 People Who Need Help
  • 4 Your Community
  • 4 Inclusion
  • 4 Multicultural Hiring
  • 4 Those with Special Needs
  • 4 Local Hiring
  • 4 The Environment
  • 4 Sustainability

My passion for baseball and helping people is deeply intertwined. I believe in win-win outcomes,
and I bring that mindset to every initiative I lead.

Our Bench Is Deep.
Just like a baseball team, our community is full of diverse talent. Job seekers wear many hats — and they need tailored advice, education, and support to succeed in today’s challenging economy.

The Playing Field Has Changed.
With unemployment rates higher than reported and job competition fiercer than ever, we must rally together. There may be one job for every 8–10 seekers, but with teamwork, we can improve those odds.

The Game Plan: A community-based national series of custom events designed to:
  • Empower job seekers to earn a livable wage
  • Advance careers through teamwork and skill-building
  • Engage fans, employers, and sponsors in meaningful collaboration

Who’s On Our Team?
  • Corporate Sponsors who care about their communities
  • Universities committed to workforce development
  • Local Employers ready to hire and support
  • Community Organizations who serve job seekers
  • Baseball Teams who want to give back to their fans

Event Highlights:
  • Pregame career presentations
  • Job fairs with local employers and sponsors
  • Resume help and career coaching
  • Prize giveaways: books, tickets, services
  • Media partnerships to amplify impact

Why Baseball?
Because baseball teaches us:
  • Teamwork wins games
  • Practice builds skill
  • Everyone plays a role
  • Comebacks are always possible

Let’s Go 2 Bat 4 Job Seekers.
We’re drafting coaches, sponsors, and teammates to join our lineup. Whether you're a company, university, nonprofit, or baseball team — you can help us build a winning strategy for your community.

My two proposals to MLB for Going to Bat 4 Job seekers

My two rejection letters which I am so proud to have received and that has not deterred me

See Your States UE Rates

Secretary of Labor - Tom Perez Signed a baseball i brought to a meeting at the White House with me.

Put me in coach I am ready to play...today !

The Playing field :

Today's job search market is the most difficult in the US history. With the actual unemployment rates higher than ever, job seekers who are qualified and working at their job search are experiencing less success then they have in the past, say 10 years, 15 years ago. The numbers of job seekers and a number of other factors that are not in their control are driving this frustration and lack of success for many.

Sports/Athlete Mentality

The numbers are staggering. Most experts claim that there is only one job for every 8-10 job seekers, and there is a huge disparity in jobs on a regional basis. Some of the largest markets for Baseball are the regions of the country that are most affected, California, New Jersey, New York, Michigan,  Illinois, Georgia, DC and Florida.

Teams and Local Job Market

If we accept the experts projections that there is only one job for every eight to ten job seekers then it would make sense to help your out of work fans, who buy your tickets, watch your games, and support all your sponsors and their products and services, get the advantage over all others to learn how they can land jobs. Only one team out of thirty each year can win it all, so our combined help can improve the odds of winning/landing a job.

Sponsors

All the companies and organizations who sponsor baseball will want their products and services to be part of this great national effort of collaboration. Each team that participates will help not only their fans but also the full community where they live. The positive benefits of supporting job seekers will have a halo effect on all who participate and support this effort.

Group Ticket Holders

We can invite all the group ticket holders for each team to participate by making jobs that are open at the time of the event available to the fans who attend and having their Human Resource, Talent Acquisition, Human Capital, internal and external recruiters, hiring managers and other senior corporate managers in training who might want to participate and will be more than willing to participate in an event like this that is sponsored by their local teams. They can participate in events and have tables at the team sponsored job fairs. This event can also be sold to non group ticket holders from the community as a way for the team to expand their ticket base and relationships.

Local Community Groups

We can gain the support of many different job clubs and community groups who all work hard to help support job seekers in every city where they can help with our events. Can invite all the largest local employers for each city to participate in program. Even if they do not have a current sponsor or group ticket relationship  with the team to participate. Retailers, Hospitals, Health care, Utilities, Media, sports business organizations, Non profits, and any other organizations who would want to participate. Event can be run before games or even when team is on the road in the stadiums.

We All Will Win as a Team

As all the baseball world knows team work and playing and practicing as a team is the only way to win and to be able to win it all. In this extremely difficult national and regional economies, our work can help millions develop the skills and be able to get back into the game. The appreciation from these fans and their families will be the only reward we will all need.

Please contact me with questions, ideas and support of this great effort that will take all of us working together to make it happen, let's all go 2 bat 4 job seekers!

Latin Americans in Major League Baseball Through the First Years of the 21st Century

North American players in MLB Baseball began relatively early in Spain thanks to the descendants of immigrants from Cuba. They brought the sport along with them when Cuba ceased to be a Spanish Colony.[1][2] The heyday of baseball in Spain was in the 1950s and 1960s.[3] Owing to mass-interest in football (soccer) many baseball clubs didn't survive into the 1970s. The Spanish public's massive shift in focus was triggered mainly by the introduction of multiple TV channels that focused mainly on broadcasting the soccer matches of "La Liga", the professional First Division Spanish League. One of the few survivors was the CB Viladecans, whose field was officially used during the 1992 Summer Olympics.

The Spanish baseball league is divided into divisions. The top teams play in the División de Honor. In each division, a team plays all other teams twice, once at home and once away, and two matches in the same day, during the regular season. There are no playoffs. The top four teams at the end of the season play in the Copa del Rey. The champion and the cupwinner play in the various European Cup.

The Spanish league teams compete in Europe under CEB most notably in the Baseball Champions League and CEB cup.

The Spanish teams also compete in a domestic cup competition each year, called the Copa del Rey de Beisbol.

Field of Dreams game 2020 moved to 2021
"Ray, if you build it they will come Ray"

The Field of Dreams is a baseball field and pop-culture tourist attraction built originally for the movie of the same name. It is in Dubuque County, Iowa, near Dyersville.

Site history

Universal Pictures built the baseball diamond on two farms, a few miles outside Dyersville, Iowa, for the 1989 film Field of Dreams. When production completed, the baseball diamond created for the movie was left behind. Most of the baseball field, including the diamond and the adjacent house, was on a farm owned by the Lansing family, but the left and center field were on an adjacent property owned by the Ameskamp family. The field was built across the two properties because the producers wanted to place the field in a location where sunset shots would have a clear line-of-sight.
After filming completed, the Lansing family kept their portion of the field intact, and added a small hut where visitors could buy souvenirs. The Ameskamp family returned their land to farming for a year, but then restored the remainder of the field and opened up their own souvenir stand. The two owners had operated separate tourist facilities and had also been at odds regarding commercialization of the site.

In 1990, Keith Rahe, a neighboring farmer, put together a baseball team dubbed the "Ghost Players" to entertain the visitors at the field. The team's presence at the field on Sunday afternoons once a month attracted thousands of additional fans to the field. In 1991 and 1992, the Upper Deck Company sponsored a celebrity game at the field. Executive producer Tony Loiacono, who later received the key to the city, brought Hall of Famers like Bob Gibson, Reggie Jackson and Bob Feller to take on Hollywood stars like Kelsey Grammer and Meat Loaf in a charity game. The two games raised over $100,000 for local charities.

A 2002 book, by author Brett H. Mandel -- "Is This Heaven? The Magic of the Field of Dreams" -- chronicles the story of how the once make-believe location has been turned into a real and tangible place that beckons people from across the world. The book, which has also been translated into Japanese, "offers readers a glimpse of this slice of heaven here on Earth and shows how it continues to affect people who step between the chalk lines." An updated version that catches readers up on two decades of history at the site is planned for 2020.

Rolling Roadshow
The Kevin Costner BandOn August 11, 2006, Austin, Texas' Alamo Drafthouse "Rolling Roadshow" (which screens films in locations unique to each film) showed Field of Dreams at the Field of Dreams site in Dyersville. A giant, outdoor screen was set up adjacent to the field with seating, concession, and parking along left and center field. Only the property owned by the Ameskamp family was allowed to be used for this event; the Lansing property was closed to the public. Before the screening of the film, Kevin Costner and his band (unnamed at the time, now known as Kevin Costner and Modern West) performed for two hours for the attending crowd of close to 1,000 people. Costner and his band played a selection of original songs and popular covers, including a song about Iowa that he wrote during the filming of Field of Dreams 17 years earlier. The event was sponsored by Netflix and hosted by Lisa Loeb.[citation needed]

Consolidation of land and Go the Distance operation
In August 2007, Rita Ameskamp sold the land containing her portion of the baseball field to Don and Becky Lansing – the owners of the remainder of the field. As a result, the movie site was, for the first time, entirely owned by the Lansing family. On May 13, 2010, the Lansings announced they were putting the farm used for the movie up for sale. On October 30, 2011, it was reported that a sale had been agreed upon with a private partnership called Go the Distance Baseball, headed by Denise Stillman, who died, aged 46, in 2018 from a rare form of liver cancer. Go the Distance has owned and preserved the movie site since December 28, 2012.

Under Go the Distance, new events have been held at the venue. The Ghost Players returned in 2013. Over Father's Day weekend 2014, the field was home to a series of events to commemorate its 25th anniversary, including an exhibition game featuring Kevin Costner, Dwier Brown and others. The events drew an estimated 12,000 fans.
Under new ownership, visitor traffic has increased from 65,000 to 100,000 visitors per year, according to Go the Distance.[9] Additionally, in March 2018, Go the Distance began renting the house and ballfield to tourists at a cost of $2,200 per night on weekdays and $2,500 per night on weekends.

Additional development
Not long after buying the movie site, Go the Distance Baseball announced plans for a 24 field youth baseball and softball complex known as All-Star Ballpark Heaven. The project was initially intended to open in 2014, coinciding with the film's 25th anniversary, but confronted difficulties finding funding and legal action from neighboring property owners, who objected to the commercial re-zoning of the site. Additionally, the cost has ballooned from the initially proposed $38 million to more than $70 million; while the Iowa state legislature passed a tax incentive for the project, developers failed to meet deadlines to secure it. The project still has not materialized.

MLB at Field of Dreams (2020

)Main article: MLB at Field of Dreams Major League Baseball (MLB) announced on August 8, 2019 that the Chicago White Sox will host the St. Louis Cardinals for a game at the Field of Dreams site on August 13, 2020. Exactly one year before the scheduled game date, construction began on a temporary 8,000-seat ballpark for the event, which is being marketed as "MLB at Field of Dreams". MLB’s original schedule had the White Sox scheduled to play the Yankees in this game. But due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the season was shortened to a 60-game schedule, with teams only playing clubs in their geographic region to limit travel. This resulted in the Cardinals replacing the Yankees. This is slated to be the first MLB game played in Iowa.

Dimensions and capacity
The ballpark is 281 feet (86 m) to left field, 314 feet (96 m) to center and 262 feet (80 m) to right field. With additional temporary bleachers, the venue held nearly 6,000 spectators for the 2013 Team of Dreams celebrity game.

The Black Sox Scandal was a Major League Baseball game-fixing scandal in which eight members of the Chicago White Sox were accused of throwing the 1919 World Series against the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for money from a gambling syndicate led by Arnold Rothstein.
